Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information ColdSpin LLC ("ColdSpin", "we", "us") collects through the ColdSpin iPhone app and through this website at coldspinapp.com, why we collect it, who else processes it, how long we keep it, and how you can have it deleted.
This policy describes ColdSpin as it works today. Features that are planned but not yet released — subscriptions and in-app feedback among them — are marked as such and described conditionally, not as something already collecting data.
Who we are
ColdSpin is operated by ColdSpin LLC, a limited liability company organized in the State of Kansas, United States. ColdSpin LLC is the controller of the information described in this policy. You can reach us at [email protected].
Information we collect
ColdSpin requires no traditional account or sign-in for core use: the app does not ask for your name, email address, or a password. The categories of information we do collect are these.
Account and device-setting information
When you first open the app, ColdSpin creates an account for you automatically and stores a randomly generated identifier for it on your device. The identifier does not contain your name or contact details and is not derived from your Apple Account, telephone number, or device hardware — but it is persistent, and the information below is associated with it.
The app also reads your device's time-zone setting, so that daily usage allowances reset at midnight where you are. We store the time-zone name, such as America/Chicago, which identifies a region rather than a place.
Your activity in the app
We record how the app is used and what it returns: the searches you run, the results you are shown, actions such as tapping CALL or opening your recent leads, whether a request succeeded or failed, and performance information. This activity is associated with your account identifier.
Feedback you choose to give us (not currently offered)
ColdSpin does not currently offer a way to report a listing from inside the app. If we offer feedback or reporting features in future and you choose to use them, we will collect the report you submit — for example that a telephone number was wrong, that a listing was inaccurate, or that a business has closed — together with the listing it concerns and your account identifier. Until then you can report the same things by email.
Information you send us directly
If you email our support or privacy addresses, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message. If you submit the launch-updates form on this website, we store the email address you enter and, if you provide it, your telephone number, along with the page and time of the signup.
Website and infrastructure information
Our hosting provider processes standard request information — including your IP address, the page requested, and your browser's user-agent string — in order to deliver this website and protect it from abuse, and may set a strictly necessary cookie for security and bot protection.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure how this website is used in aggregate: page views, referrers, and general performance. It does not use cookies or browser storage to build a persistent identifier for you and does not track you across other websites. It does, however, process request information including your IP address to produce those aggregate measurements. We do not use it to profile you or for advertising.
This website also loads two typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser requests them from Google's servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
Purchases (at launch)
ColdSpin is not yet released, and nothing can be purchased today. At launch we intend to offer ColdSpin Pro as a monthly or annual subscription, with a 7-day introductory free trial for eligible new subscribers. Subscriptions will be sold through Apple's App Store: Apple processes the payment under your Apple Account, and we do not receive or store your payment card details. We would receive subscription status — such as whether your account is entitled to Pro — in order to unlock the features you paid for.
What the app does not ask for
ColdSpin does not request access to your device's precise location, and does not ask for access to your contacts, calendar, photos, microphone, or camera. It does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) or other cross-app tracking identifiers, and contains no advertising SDK.
Tapping CALL hands the telephone number to your iPhone's own phone app, exactly as if you had typed it in. ColdSpin does not place, route, listen to, record, or transcribe your calls, and does not know whether a call connected or how long it lasted. We record only that the button was tapped.
How we use information
- To provide the app — running searches, returning results, applying usage allowances, showing your recent leads.
- To keep it working — diagnosing failures, monitoring performance, fixing problems you report.
- To improve ColdSpin, including the quality of the business information it shows you, as described in the next section.
- To protect ColdSpin and its users — detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, automated scraping, and other misuse.
- To communicate with you, and to meet legal obligations or defend legal claims.
Feedback and business-data quality
A core purpose of ColdSpin is to present business and telephone information that is worth calling. To do that, we use interaction records and — if we offer feedback or reporting features — the reports you submit, to verify, correct, suppress, rank, score, maintain, and improve the business and telephone information in ColdSpin, and the quality of search results. Two things are worth distinguishing:
- Records linked to you. Your activity in the app, and any report you submit, are associated with your account identifier. For as long as they remain linked to your account, they are covered by the retention periods and by the access and deletion rights below, like everything else in this policy.
- Business-quality information derived from those signals. We may aggregate or de-identify those signals to produce information about businesses and telephone numbers — for example that a number appears unreachable, that a listing appears out of date, or that a business appears to have closed. Where information has actually been aggregated or de-identified so that it is no longer reasonably linked to you, we may retain and use the resulting business-quality information after the underlying account records are deleted, to the extent permitted by law.
We may use both categories for the purposes listed above, including reliability and the prevention of fraud and abuse, and to develop and improve ColdSpin's services. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used under United States state privacy laws.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that process it on our behalf, under contracts that do not permit them to use it for their own purposes:
- Supabase — hosts our database and authentication, on infrastructure in the United States.
- Cloudflare — hosts and delivers this website, provides security and bot protection, and provides the web analytics described above.
- Google — provides Google Workspace, which carries email sent to our @coldspinapp.com addresses, and Google Fonts, which serves this site's typefaces.
- Apple — distributes the app through the App Store and, if subscriptions launch, will process those purchases. Apple's handling of that information is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
We may also disclose information where legally required, or where we believe it necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of ColdSpin LLC, our users, or the public. If ColdSpin LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information covered by this policy may transfer as part of that transaction.
Business listings in the app
The businesses ColdSpin returns come from licensed third-party business and place information, together with any corrections and quality signals we apply. Attribution for those sources is published on our Third-Party Notices page.
That information — business name, category, city, state, and a listed business telephone number — describes commercial establishments rather than consumers, though a very small business may publish a number that also reaches an individual. If you are a business owner and want your listing addressed, email [email protected]; we can suppress a record in ColdSpin, and we will point you to the upstream source where it originates.
How long we keep it
- Account, activity, and feedback records — while your account exists and for as long as needed for the purposes above, including usage allowances and abuse prevention.
- Launch-updates signups — until ColdSpin launches and we have emailed you, or until you ask us to remove you, whichever comes first.
- Email you send us — as long as needed to handle your request and keep a record of it.
- Derived business-quality information — retained as part of our business dataset, as described above.
We do not currently operate an automated deletion schedule. If you ask us to delete your data, we act on the request as described below.
Your choices and rights
We offer the following to everyone who uses ColdSpin, regardless of where you live and regardless of whether a particular privacy law applies to us:
- Deletion. Email [email protected] and we will delete the records associated with your account.
- Access. Ask us what we hold about you and we will tell you.
- Correction. Ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
- Opt out of launch emails. Ask us to remove you from the launch list at any time.
Because ColdSpin accounts are created without a signup, we usually have no way to connect an email you send us to a particular account in our records, and the app does not yet display your account identifier. If you contact us we will tell you what we need in order to act on your request. Deleting the app removes the identifier stored on your device. We are working on an in-app way to view it and request deletion, and this policy will be updated when that ships.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional statutory rights — for example under the California Consumer Privacy Act or similar state laws. We honour the requests above for everyone, so you do not need to invoke a specific law, and we will not discriminate against you for making a request.
Security
Traffic between the app, this website, and our servers is encrypted in transit using TLS. We restrict access to what we hold so that users can reach only their own records, and we limit internal access to what is needed to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you and any regulator as required by law.
Children
ColdSpin is a business tool intended for adults engaged in commercial sales activity. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
Where data is processed
ColdSpin is operated from the United States, and the information described here is stored and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live. ColdSpin's business data currently covers the United States only.
Changes
We will update this policy when the product changes in a way that affects it — in particular before subscriptions or in-app feedback ship. We will change the "last updated" date, and for material changes we will say what changed. The current version is always at coldspinapp.com/privacy.
