You choose a state, and optionally narrow it to a city or ZIP code. You can also type a business type such as roofing, HVAC or landscaping, or leave it blank and let ColdSpin choose an industry for you. Press SPIN and you get one business with its phone number. Tap CALL to dial it, then spin again for the next one.

No. ColdSpin creates an anonymous identifier on your device the first time you open the app so it can keep track of your spin limit and avoid showing you the same business twice. There is no signup form, no password, and we don't ask for your name or email inside the app.

ColdSpin won't show you the same business again for 30 days. After that window it can come back around, which is deliberate: a business you couldn't reach last month is worth another call this month.

If a market is small enough that you've worked through most of it, you may see No new match this spin. Broadening from a city to the whole state, or clearing the business type, opens the pool back up.

It happens. ColdSpin's business information comes from Foursquare's open Places dataset, which is refreshed periodically — but any dataset of this size will contain numbers that have changed and businesses that have since closed. We filter out records flagged as closed and records with no phone number, and we don't verify numbers by calling them.

ColdSpin's free tier includes a set number of spins each day and each calendar month. The app always shows how many you have left, and the daily allowance resets at midnight in your device's own time zone.

A paid Pro plan with unlimited spins is planned. It is not available for purchase yet, and nothing in the app charges you anything today.

No. Tapping CALL hands the number to your iPhone's own phone app, exactly as if you had typed it in. ColdSpin does not place the call, does not listen to it, does not record it, and does not know whether it connected or how long it lasted.

No. ColdSpin never requests location permission. You tell it which market you want to work, and that is the only place it searches.

That's your call to make, and your responsibility. Business-to-business calling is regulated in the United States — federal rules including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, state telemarketing laws, and Do-Not-Call requirements may all apply depending on who you are calling and how.

Deleting the ColdSpin app from your device removes the anonymous identifier stored on it, which is the only thing linking you to your ColdSpin records.

To have the records themselves deleted from our systems, email [email protected]. Because ColdSpin accounts are anonymous, we may need information from you to identify which records are yours. Our Privacy Policy explains what we hold and for how long.
